AWS is proud to announce that is now supporting large-scale OLAP deployments, including BW/4HANA for its EC2 X1 clusters. EC2 can support up to 7 nodes or 14 Tb of RAM.
It doesn’t stop there—AWS has plans to make X1 instances available for other sizes too. Currently, AWS is in the process of testing clusters at 50 Tb.
AWS’s new certification allows it to consolidate larger scale-out deployments into fewer but larger instances. This makes them more efficient and less costly to run and manage.
It also provides customers several options for ensuring high availability for important SAP HANA deployments. This way you can avoid having to take expensive maintenance costs and replacement hardware in the event of machine failure.
One useful option is to take advantage of AWS EC2 Auto-recovery, which launches a recovered instance identical to an original instance that experienced hardware failure. This lets you continue operations while the problem is fixed.
