Autoscaling is a means to scale a group of AWS EC2 instances up and down according to your specifications—extremely useful and cost-effective when the demand for these processes is dynamic.
As such, AWS has provided an additional layer of protection for your EC2 instances. You may now set certain instances to be protected from automatic termination.
Previously, if you take no action to stop it, any instance can be terminated from your group. Given that you may want to prevent that from happening for machines running critical tasks, you can now configure that option in your Auto-scaling console.
