As an added security feature, AWS is pleased to announce that users may now reference security groups of their choice in a peered Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). This simplifies the configuration process as security group membership controls traffic between peers instead of CIDR ranges.
Since this feature can be used across accounts, you may link to VPCs in different AWS accounts. You may start referencing security groups through the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or through SDKs. Please refer to the Reference Peered Security Groups guide for additional information.
